We can't even start on the inside of the house until we have sheds and workshop basement space organized and with a lot thrown out. They want to clean and so do I, but I can't really help when I don't know what half this stuff is and what they actually need for work, but I feel like I can help with organizing and systems to help this go faster if you all have any tips? It's the yard that's most stressful, but we don't even know where to start. There are multiple sheds and such but the disorganization and amount of stuff has spread everywhere. They have every tool and mechanical something you could imagine, like ten vehicles with only two running, tons of steel and wood and all sorts of stuff for projects that never get started. I live with my boyfriend and his elder father, both of whom are/were tradesmen. I could just get rid of the kitchen table all together but I kinda want to be able to have friends over for dinner sometimes. I have considered replacing the table with a smaller one so that it can not hold as much stuff but I'm not sure how well that will work because the roommates don't seem to care now when the table gets full, they just eat on the couch, so I'm not sure replacing the table would help.

Another issue is they will take up new hobbies such as drawing and since they have no room in their bedrooms they will just take up a quarter of the table as a drawing station or whatever and just permanently store drawing supplies there, this eventually leads to the stuff for their new hobby getting spread over the whole table and mixed in with the trash.Īny tips for how to keep the table clear would be appreciated, I know the answer is ultimately throw trash away immediately but my roommates are not doing that despite being asked to so I think something in the process needs to change to disincentive people from leaving trash on the table. I live with 3 other people and I have asked them nicely to stop leaving trash on the table but they continue to do it. The most infuriating part of this is when we clear it off we discover that like 75% of the clutter is not even things that need to be put away, it's just trash (junk mail, fast food receipts, wrappers or empty containers for food, empty boxes for things ordered off Amazon) as well as dirty dishes and pot holders. We will put in a lot of work clearing the table off and within 48 hours it is cluttered again. Hello, one of the areas in my house that gets cluttered very quickly is our kitchen table.
